When you are in for a light snack to munch along with your sweet cup of tea, salty and spice namkeen mixture is the best thing to pick. There are different kinds of namkeens you get in the market, and chances are, you already must be having different varieties of them stashed in your kitchen cabinet. But, if you want to serve homemade snack to your family, try this chana dal namkeen, which is crunchy, crispy, tasty and filling too.

Just like all other lentils, chana dal is also rich in proteins, making it an ideal in-between-the-meals snack that will fill up your tummy for a long time. This recipe shared on YouTube channel ‘Cooking With Reshu’ shows you how to make chana dal namkeen easily at home. Soak chana dal, drain and dry the dal on a tissue paper or kitchen cloth. Make sure to dry the dal completely. Fry the dal in oil by placing the dal in a sieve and holding the sieve while dal fries. When dal turns brown and crispy, spread it again on paper towel that will suck out excessive oil.

Then just add masalas like chaat masala, haldi, salt, black salt, hing, red chilli powder or any other spices you like. You can also make chaat with it by adding chopped onions, green chillies, lemon juice, peanuts etc.

Make chana dal snack at home and you’ll never go back to buying namkeen from the market.
