That’s it, grab that dahi and slice an onion and make a delicious tangy sabzi in all of 10 minutes! This dahi sabzi is a popular quick-fix dish in Punjabi households. It is usually treated as a side dish amid a massive traditional spread but sometimes, it is good enough to complete a whole meal when paired with parathas or plain roti or even rice.

Dahi works as a great digestion and immunity booster, especially in summer, with its gut-friendly properties. We stock dahi at our home at all times to accompany our Indian meals or to make lassi and chaas. This dahi sabzi, often called ‘rerhua’ or ‘rerhu’ in regional lingo, is another good way to consume dahi is its tangy and spicy avatar.

Before sharing the recipe, we would like to give some tips to make this dahi sabzi. When you are sauteing the onions, make sure not to overbrown them. Quick And Easy Dahi Sabzi Recipe:

(Serving: 2)

1 cup curd

1 large onion, sliced

1 green chilli, slit

1/4 tsp turmeric powder

Half tsp coriander powder

Salt and red chili powder to taste

Half tsp garam masala

Coriander leaves for garnishing

Method:

Step 1 – Whisk curd to make a smooth paste. Add some water, if required. Keep aside.

Step 2 – Slice onion and slit green chilli.

Step 3 – Heat ghee in a pan. Add onions and green chilli and cook till onions turn translucent.

Step 4 – Add the spices except garam masala and saute for a minute.

Step 5 – Add curd, mix well and give it a boil while stirring continuously.

Step 6 – Add garam masala, mix and turn off the gas.

Garnish with coriander leaves and serve.

You can experiment and add spices like mustard seeds, ginger and garlic or replace green chilli with whole red chilli to flavour this easy dahi recipe according to your taste preference.
